New coach Cuonzo Martin’s Missouri men’s basketball program added three dates to its 2017-18 schedule Thursday in response to The Star’s inquiry.
MU, which is hoping to rebound from three consecutive last-place finishes in the Southeastern Conference, will host Miami (Ohio) on Dec. 5, Green Bay on Dec. 9 and North Florida on Dec. 16.
The Redhawks, whose only previous meeting against the Tigers was an 81-55 loss last December at Mizzou Arena, will receive $96,500 for participation in the game.
Miami (Ohio) has reached the NCAA Tournament since 2007 and hasn’t enjoyed a winning season since 2009.
The Wisconsin-based Phoenix, who will receive $90,000 for the game, are winless in two meetings against MU, a pair of losses by 20-plus points in Columbia in 1984 and 2002.
Green Bay has finished at or above .500 in 10 of the last 11 seasons and has averaged 21.4 wins during the last five seasons.
Finally, the Tigers will host the Osprey, who will receive $98,000 for the trek from Jacksonville, for second time.
The only previous meeting between Mizzou and North Florida, whose lone NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2015, was a 96-58 win for former coach Mike Anderson’s squad in November 2010 at Mizzou Arena.
Ten of the Tigers’ nonconference games have now been announced, though a bracket for the AdvoCare Invitational in November hasn’t been released.
Missouri’s SEC opponents for next season have been announced, but dates and times have not yet been released.
