Missouri’s women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to four games Monday with a 68-62 victory over UC-Riverside in Columbia.
Sophomore forward Cierra Porter led the way for the Tigers with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Sierra Michaelis added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Missouri, 10-3.
Missouri jumped out to a 27-11 lead in the first quarter, shooting 75 percent (9 of 12) from the field. The Tigers held UC-Riverside to 22 percent (4 of 18) in the quarter. MU sophomore Sophie Cunningham scored 12 of her 14 points in the quarter.
The Tigers led 41-29 at halftime, but the Highlanders closed the gap in the second half. Missouri made only 7 of 32 shots (22 percent) in the second half and missed all nine of its three-point attempts. MU did hit 13 of 16 free throws after halftime, and 22 of 25 in the game.
Rejane Verin and Simone DeCoud both scored 20 points for UC-Riverside.
