ABOUT WISCONSIN (23-11):

The Badgers have reached the NCAA Tournament in 15 consecutive seasons, which is tied for the seventh-longest streak and the fourth-longest active streak behind only Kansas (24), Duke (18) and Michigan State (16). It’s also the third-longest streak in the Big Ten. … Wisconsin went 7-6 against the Associated Press Top 25 this season, including five wins against teams currently ranked in the top 10. … The Badgers rank No. 9 in the nation in scoring defense, allowing on 55.9 points per game, and are particularly stingy along the perimeter, where opposing teams shoot only 29.2 percent (11th best in the nation). … Wisconsin’s only national championship came in 1941 when Bud Foster’s Badgers beat Washington State 39-34 at Municipal Auditorium.

ABOUT MISSISSIPPI (26-8):

Mississippi has won seven of the last eight games. … The Rebels reached the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time, but the first since 2002. … Sophomore guard Jarvis Summers, who averages 9.2 points and 3.8 assists, missed the last two games after suffering a concussion, but he returned to practice this week at full speed. … Mississippi ranks ninth in the nation in scoring offense (77.9 points per game). The Rebels shoot more than 20 three-pointers per game, but shoot a relatively inefficient 33 percent. … It will be critical to speed up a Wisconsin team that ranks 14th in the nation with a 1.37 assist-to-turnover ratio to create mistakes and transition opportunities. … Andy Kennedy is 151-86 in seven seasons in Oxford, Miss.

BOTTOM LINE:

Wisconsin is 19-5 when allowing fewer than 60 points in regulation, but coach Bo Ryan’s squad is only 4-6 — including an overtime win against Michigan — when allowing 60 or more points in regulation. Keeping Mississippi below that seemingly magical mark might be tough. Led by its gunning guard Marshall Henderson, the Rebels haven’t scored fewer than 62 points in a game this season.
