Kansas athletic director Sheahon Zenger has promoted Nicole Corcoran to Senior Woman Administrator, effective July 1. Corcoran, who spent the last eight years as an associate athletic director for operations, takes over for Debbie Van Saun, who is retiring from full-time work after 10 years with KU Athletics.
In addition, Zenger announced he was splitting up Van Saun’s duties while hiring Etienne Thomas as the school’s new associate athletic director for student life. Thomas comes to KU from North Carolina Central, where she was Senior Woman Administrator, NCCU’s primary Title IX officer and the university's deputy Title IX officer. Her first day will be July 17.
Corcoran will continue her current duties and will represent KU at the Big 12 and NCAA levels, while also assuming oversight of women's basketball and men's and women's golf. Thomas, meanwhile, will serve as KU’s liaison with the Office of Institutional Opportunity & Access (IOA) and will oversee Diversity, Gender Equity & Inclusion education and training for athletes and staff, as well as student conduct for KU Athletics. She also will be the sports supervisor for rowing.
