The Kansas women’s basketball team’s three-point lead disappeared with three seconds left on Sunday afternoon when Alabama junior Hannah Cook made a shot from beyond the arc.
The unfeated Crimson Tide used the momentum to win 71-65 in overtime. The Jayhawks, who have two overtime victories this season, dropped to 3-4.
McKenzie Clavert led Kansas with 15 points on 4-of-16 shooting, including 1 of 8 from three-point range. Chayla Cheadle recorded a double-double, with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go along with 11 recounds, and Jessica Washington contributed eight points and 10 rebounds.
The Jayhawks made just four of their 24 three-point attemps in the game and shot 31 percent from the floor. Alabama was 5 of 21 from three-point range and shot 30 percent overall.
The Crimson Tide went 20 of 32 from the free-throw line while Kansas made 15 of 19 attempts.
Kansas will play its next five games at home beginning with a contest against Harvard at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
