Falcons Could Trade Top Cornerback Before 2026 Season

The Atlanta Falcons have gone through a bevy of changes already during the offseason, but that doesn’t mean they’re finished. Summer is just heating up, and that means it’s crunch time in the NFL to get teams’ rosters together for the upcoming season, and the Falcons are at the top of the list.

Should the Falcons make any major trades before September? One NFL analyst says, “Yes.”

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report has released a feature where he names one blockbuster trade each franchise should make before the 2026 season starts. “Keep in mind, these players must have decent market value to be trade assets. Most of the selections below have been productive in recent years or have some upside,” he states in the piece.

For the Falcons, he likes the idea of the team trading cornerback Mike Hughes.

The Falcons selected Avieon Terrell in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft, and Moton thinks he’s an apt replacement. “If Terrell is impressive through training camp, he should be on the field alongside his brother in the secondary, which would make Mike Hughes expendable before the final roster cutdown date on August 30,” he states in the piece.

This could be a good move for both parties, especially since Hughes still has good trade appeal. Over the last two seasons in Atlanta, he has started in 27 games and is a veteran cornerback at this point, so he could draw real interest around the NFL and set up a blockbuster trade situation.
