There’s not a whole lot to look forward to in Kansas City in February. Thankfully, it’s only 28 days long. But when we talked to Matt Parker Green, general manager at Lidia’s, he had a ready answer: “This is actually the first year that we’ve been allocated a supply of Chocolate Ale,” Green says. “I know that people look forward to its release each year, so we’re excited to be providing it to our customers. We’ll be breaking new ground.” Boulevard’s Chocolate Ale, which draws upon chocolatier Christopher Elbow’s expertise, has become legendary locally and has sold out of retail stores quickly in recent years. Like burnt ends, Chocolate Ale is a local delicacy and tradition.
