A durable handmade rug from one of K.C.’s newest home decor shops
Not even a year old, Kansas City home and garden store Golden & Pine is making a name for itself in the decor world. The shop, owned by Stephanie Agne, recently placed 3rd in HGTV’s New York Now Retail Design Challenge.
The challenge asked attendees of NYNOW’s home, gift and lifestyle market to share photos of their retail shops with the hashtag #nyndesignchallenge. Golden & Pine was chosen as one of 25 finalists, and was awarded 3rd place by Meg Caswell, a designer for HGTV.
If you’ve walked through the doors of Golden & Pine’s Brookside space, you can understand why Caswell found the K.C. shop so impressive. Handmade goods fill each corner, as do quality pillows, dishware, plant holders and rugs.
The store recently began offering high-quality rugs from an Australia brand named Pampa, which sells 100 percent handmade designs. The rugs are made with hand-spun wool by Argentinian artisans in remote communities who use weaving techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Pampa’s Black and White Monte Rug is a great option for rooms that need a hint of pattern without overwhelming the space. The neutral design makes it versatile but far from boring.
The rug is 6’x7.8′ and retails for $988.
