Get a sneak peek at this month’s issue, coming Sunday in The Kansas City Star

Sunday Spaces, a new lifestyle section published once a month in The Kansas City Star, will return this Sunday, Nov. 6. This month’s edition will include a number of features on home decor, fashion, food, drinks and more from the editors of Kansas City Spaces magazine. Here’s a look at what you can expect in Sunday’s issue:

Contributing writer Stephanie Jacob kicks of the November Dressing section with an overview of the best black boots to buy this season. From an over-the-knee option to the classic riding style, you’ll get all the details on where to buy the latest crop of not-so-basic black boots.

Jennifer Maloney, executive chef at Café Sebastienne, gives readers a delicious taste of fall with her recipe for Butternut Squash Risotto with Pears, Blue Cheese and Bacon in the Cooking section. On the same page, contributing writer Judith Fertig helps the pastry-challenged with pie tips from Jan Knobel, the co-owner of The Upper Crust in Overland Park.

This month, Tom Strongman reviews the Fiat 124 Spider, an automobile that’s been reborn with a Japanese partner.

In the Wedding section, Kansas City native Sara Nebbia shares the story of how she and her now-husband, Nick Tarnowski, met on a cruise ship and eventually fell in love. Their indoor-outdoor nuptials at The Hobbs Building in the West Bottoms were filled with unique details and a timeless color palette of gold, blush and navy.

The Drinking section features a recipe for Smoke and Salvation, a cocktail with bourbon and bitters crafted by Café Europa’s Susan Avery. If you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, you won’t want to miss contributing writer Cody Hogan’s picks for the best wine to serve to your guests.

Interior designer Lisa Schmitz gives readers the details on her current design obsession, and contributing writer Brooke McGrath rounds up the best cocktail ottomans to prop your feet on in the Decorating section. And last but certainly not least, learn how you can emulate a personalized dining nook from homeowners Brian and Shelly McGowan.
