Ulah, a menswear boutique from Buck Wimberly and Joey Mendez, brings modern apparel and accessories to K.C.
Fashion-forward men in Kansas City won’t have to wait long to find modern menswear. Next fall, K.C. natives Buck Wimberly and Joey Mendez are opening Ulah, a men’s clothing and lifestyle store in Westwood’s Woodside Village.
Mendez has extensive experience in retail, including his nine years as a buyer and department manager for Halls, and Wimberly comes from a design and marketing background that includes work with two Hallmark start-ups.

The duo decided to join forces after seeing a void in the market for modern, comfortable clothing and accessories in a unique space.
“Together we have a really interesting point of view in the apparel industry,” Wimberly said. “It’s all starting from a baseline of really well designed and good quality clothing that you can’t just find everywhere.”
In addition to apparel and accessories, Ulah will offer bath and body products, home accents, fine art and gifts from local brands. The store will also offer an in-store tailor and customization with laser etching on glass, leather and other materials.
“We want to give guys their own space that they’re comfortable in, that’s not like shopping at a chain,” Mendez said.
Mendez and Wimberly aim to make Ulah a shop for every man, with price points in accessible and aspirational categories.
“We understand that men are really multidimensional,” Wimberly said. “If they’re from Kansas City, they probably came from more rustic roots- from smaller hometowns, even from rural areas. You may have a trendy guy who also likes to hunt. That’s what we’re designing Ulah to cater to.”
