The latest in Kansas City’s retail scene

A Girl’s Best Friend

When it comes to local retailers, Meierotto Jewelers has a reputation as a mainstay in Kansas City. And now, the brand has taken its name to a new location.

The family-owned jewelry store with Kansas City roots recently opened the doors to its 34,000-square-foot space at I-35 and Armour Road. Your significant other will have no problem selecting something special from the store’s variety of watches, jewelry and engagement rings, and on-site repair facilities can turn what’s old new again.

The new building also places Meierotto in the One North development site, a $134 million project that is expected to include Driv Golf Lounge + Brewhouse, two hotels, luxury apartments and other retail space.

Say Hi to Lady Bye

Effortless, classic, strong—these are the words Coco Brookside owner Abby Roen Flores uses to describe the boutique’s new sister store, Lady Bye. Flores describes the shop, which will be located at 6245 Brookside Plaza, as the Los Angeles counterpart to Coco’s New York aesthetic. Like Coco, Lady Bye will feature clothing, accessories and other goods with a more modern take on classic silhouettes.

The shop, expected to open in early February, gets its name from the iconic images of Princess Diana and Jackie O.

“Just a mention of their names, and you instantly imagine them standing in front of their cars or at the top of airplane steps, waving goodbye,” Flores says.

Lady Bye’s apparel will range in size from extra small to 3X, with an average price point of $69.

Box It Up

Finding the perfect gift for a baby shower, birthday or anniversary can be a daunting task, but a new local business aims to solve your shopping woes. The Kansas City Box, founded by Missourian Katherine Thompson, curates memorable gifts from K.C. and the Midwest in a keepsake wooden box. The Taste of KC box, for example, includes items from Joe’s KC, The Roasterie, Boulevard Brewing Co., and Topsy’s Popcorn. Customers can choose from a selection of themed gift sets, like the Little One box for new babies, or customize the box for pets, graduations and other celebrations.

Boxes range in price from $24.99 to $99, and each box contains a handwritten note and details about the makers behind the brands featured.
