Many may think of Weston as the sleepy little town north of Kansas City — and in some ways, it is.
It’s quaint with a Main Street that harkens back to the Frank Capra days in all the best ways. But if you haven’t been to Weston in the last three years, then you haven’t really been to Weston.

The town has a renewed energy and so many new retailers and restaurants that many may not recognize it. Weston offers breweries, wineries, distilleries, live music venues (including one that’s underground!) and locally owned retailers that offer unique gift ideas for all occasions.
If history catches your interest, there are plenty of historic homes, museums, and walking tours that explore the rich heritage in the area.
Although there is plenty to do and see in Weston, the holidays are when the town really shines. Starting with Second Saturdays in November and continuing on to the Candlelight Homes Tour in December, Weston captures the spirit of the holidays in ways that the whole family can enjoy.
Second Saturdays is an ongoing event that occurs every month with area shops staying open until 6 p.m. and November marks the start of the holiday season in earnest.
For an intimate and festive experience, don’t miss the Candlelight Homes Tour from 2 to 7 p.m. on December 1 and 2. Part of Weston’s charm is its collection of beautifully restored Victorian and antebellum homes. Guests may tour four of these homes, all bedecked for the Christmas holiday, along with the Holladay Visitors Center, The Rumpled Nest loft, and several of Weston’s churches.
The Christian Church will have live music in the sanctuary and will also sell their famous apple dumplings. The Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Parish Hall will even transform into a traditional German Christmas Market with plenty of thoughtfully made crafts and gifts perfect for stockings and more. Food and beverages will be sold in several of the other churches.
Tickets to the Holiday Candlelight Tour are $15 in advance online. Tickets purchased before November 15th will also be entered into a drawing for a $250 Weston Chamber gift certificate.
Although the holidays can be stressful with too many events and not enough time, sometimes a trip 30 minutes north is all one might need to take a deep breath and relax.
Join us in Weston and let the holiday cheer overtake the holiday stress for a few hours. Have a glass of wine at one of our wineries, or try a cocktail at the Holladay Distillery and unwind over dinner at one of Weston’s diverse restaurants. You’ll be glad you made the trip!
