Chatting Up

When you ask Gloria Rudd about what she’s looking forward to in October, there is no doubt when she says, “The CHAT Series, of course!” That’s because Rudd, who serves as vice president of the CHAT Series, worked to line up the first speakers for the three live events, which will each focus on Women’s Empowerment.

Those speakers are Amy Poehler on Oct. 13, Liz Murray on Oct. 20 and Geena Davis on Nov. 9.

“This will be a very unique program,” Rudd said. “It provides a way to give back to the community as we are reserving seats for women from various local agencies to come and participate.” Rudd is working with the brand experiences agency Bishop McCann, which provided the initiative to hold the CHAT Series in Kansas City.

“Amy is a huge star, but many people don’t know that she is a great advocate for women’s and children’s empowerment and equality around the world,” Rudd said.  “Liz was homeless, her parents were drug addicts and yet she’s started a company to help people transform their lives. And Geena is a tireless advocate for women and girls” and is the founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in the Media, to increase the number of roles for women and to reduce gender stereotyping.

Tickets for the three CHAT Series programs, all scheduled at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, are available at
