Long before people get to the Schlitterbahn Water Park in western Kansas City, Kan., they will see the daunting Verrückt water slide.
It is to open May 23 and officially be the tallest in the world. The slide is 168 feet 7 inches high, beating the Kilimanjaro slide in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, The Kansas City Star reports. The Brazil slide is 163 feet, 9 inches high.

The Kansas Speedway, Village West and the Sporting Kansas City stadium already are big tourist draws. Expect the Verrückt water slide to draw even more people and dollars to Wyandotte County this year.
Daredevil kids and adults won’t be able to resist tackling Verrückt, which means “insane” in German. The slide is made to take a four-person raft at speeds of 60 to 70 mph.
That should be good summertime fun for those who can stomach it.
