Samsung announced that it is selling a 110-inch television that has four times the resolution of standard high-definition TVs. The kicker is that the sale price in South Korea is $150,000.
The appeal of a TV that size is mystifying. It can only enlarge and make clearer the programming piped in through cable, satellite, telephone and via HDTV antennas.
That means the 110-inch, ultra-high resolution TV will make the mindless junk people now consume bigger and clearer. It will only cost more to watch.
People have to ask, “Why is that so desirable?”
