Pedestrian and vehicle traffic downtown, particularly at night, indicate how popular that part of the city has become.
It’s why visitors downtown have grown from 2.5 million in 2002 to 13.4 million last year. Credit the Sprint Center and the Power & Light District for making downtown appealing to more visitors.
The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Crown Center, Crossroads and the River Market add to that draw. The Power & Light District began opening in 2007, The Kansas City Star reports.
As the excitement and entertainment options grow, more people may go downtown to enjoy themselves. Let’s hope is doesn’t bleed away customer traffic from the Plaza and Westport.
