If Missouri Rep. Mike Moon’s goal was to turn himself and the General Assembly into objects of ridicule, he has achieved that objective with manly firmness.

Yes, with those very words. Moon is the author of House Resolution No. 99, which calls upon members of the Missouri congressional delegation to “endeavor with ‘manly firmness’ and resolve to totally and completely repeal the Affordable Care Act, settling for no less than a full repeal.”

Manly firmness?

We will bypass the inevitable, sexually oriented humor when discussing this idiocy. You can find plenty of that on Twitter.

Let’s just say the resolution by Moon, a Republican from Ash Grove, is insulting to women and too stupid by half. Also, Moon appears to have too much time on his hands.

Moon says he cribbed “manly firmness” from a line in the Declaration of Independence. But while the principles expressed in that great document are timeless, that particular phrase is long out of date.

Would that the Missouri legislature resolve to scrap Moon’s resolution forthwith. If Moon needs something to do, he should fight to expand Medicaid eligibility. Now that would be a test of manhood.
