How much will the Royals spend on payroll in 2017? It could be as much as $140 million.

Essentially, the Royals have $99.1 million committed to 12 players in 2017; they’ll pay another $6 million in buyouts for four players with mutual options; and they could have another $20-30 million on the books once they hand out arbitration raises.
