Matt Fields’ two home runs lift Class AAA Omaha

Matt Fields hit two-run homers and five RBIs on Sunday as Class AAA Omaha beat Colorado Springs 7-2.

Fields’ two-run home run in the fourth inning broke a 1-1 tie. After the Sky Sox cut it to 3-2, Fields’ connected on a three-run shot. He has 15 homers on the season.

Whit Merrifield’s solo homer in the first inning gave the Storm Chasers an early lead.

Starter Clayton Mortensen gave up two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out six and walked two. Mortensen is 4-0 with a 1.64 ERA.

Wilking Rodriguez pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Tim Collins struck out two and walked one in the ninth.

**Jason Adam tossed five shutout frames and Lane Adams and Hunter Dozier each hit a solo homer as Class AA Northwest Arkansas beat Frisco 3-0. Adam gave up four hits, walked two and struck out four. Adams had two doubles in addition to his homer.

**Class A-Advanced Wilmington was held to four hits in a 7-1 loss to Winston-Salem. Miguel Almonte gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.

**Class A Lexington scored four runs in the top of the ninth and rallied for an 8-7 win at Asheville. Kenny Diekroeger had a two-out double that scored Fred Ford and Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado in the top of the ninth inning and Frank Schwindel followed with an RBI single and Mauricio Ramos followed with an RBI double.

*Mike HIll had a three-run homer and Rookie-Advanced Idaho Falls had 14 hits total in a 13-4 win over Ogden. Wander Franco and DonAndre Clark each had two hits and two RBIs.

**Chase Vallot hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Joshua Banuelos hit a solo shot later in the inning, but Rookie Burlington lost 8-3 at Bluefield. Foster Griffin allowed a run on two hits in 2 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out a pair.
