Jamey Carroll is with his sixth Major League franchise now, but he’s in for a first Tuesday when the Royals open a three-game series against the Twins in Minnesota.
This will be the first time Carroll will face his former team in the same season.
“I’ve been in this situation but it’s usually going back the next year to go back,” Carroll said. “To be just a couple of weeks, I’m sure it’ll be a little odd to be on the other side. But at time same time, it’s the reality of it.
“I’m excited about going back to see my family.”
Carroll’s wife, Kim, and the couple’s twins, Cole and Mackenize, are still in Minnesota. But after the season, they’ll head back to their home in Florida. The trip to Minnesota means Carroll will be doing some off-the-field work, too.
“Thankfully we are going back,” Carroll said, “so I can go and finish help packing up the house.” And he should still have friends in the Twins clubhouse, right?
“Well, I hope they didn’t leave in two weeks,” Carroll said with a smile. “I’ve got a lot of good friends over there. Anytime you become a part of a team, you build friendships and relationships. Even though I was there for just under two years, I came out of that clubhouse with some of some of my favorite teammates I’ve ever had.”
