Bubba Starling’s two-run homer broke a sixth-inning tie Wednesday and propelled Class A Lexington to a 4-2 victory against Greenville.
The Legends were tied 1-1 when Terrance Gore drew a one-out walk and Starling followed with his home run. An inning later, Terrance Gore walked with one out and Raul Mondesi followed with an RBI double.
In his last seven games, Starling is batting .381 (eight for 21) with seven RBIs.
Starter Crawford Simmons allowed one run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
Rookie-Advanced Idaho Falls
Hunter Dozier, the Royals’ first pick in last month’s draft, had three hits, including a two-run homer and a double, but the Chukars lost a shootout 13-10 at Orem.
Dozier is batting .400 during a five-game hitting streak. In his last seven games, Dozier has had three multi-hit games.
Adrian Briggs had three hits and three RBIs on Wednesday, while Cody Stubbs had three hits and raised his average to .321.
The Chukars led 4-3 going to the bottom of the fourth, but Orem scored six in the frame and added three in the fifth and led 12-4.
Starter Ashton Goudeau allowed eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings and his ERA is an ugly 19.55.
Class AA Northwest Arkansas
How’s this for a team effort? Every Naturals player had at least one hit and scored at least one run as the Naturals routed Midland 11-2.
Seven Northwest Arkansas players knocked in at least one run as well.
The game was tied 2-2 after seven innings when the Naturals pushed two runs across in the eighth and seven more in the ninth.
Northwest Arkansas sent 11 batters to the plate in the ninth and collected six hits, drew a walk and had a batter reach on an error.
Brooks Pounders, who threw a no-hitter in his last start, gave up two runs on six hits in six inning with a walk and three strikeouts. J.C. Sulbaran, 3-4, allowed one hit in a scoreless seventh.
Scott Alexander struck out the side in the eighth inning and Sam Runion fanned two in the ninth.
Class AAA Omaha
Every Storm Chasers player scored at least one run as they thumped New Orleans 10-4.
Anthony Seratelli hit a three-run homer as part of a four-run eighth inning as Omaha pulled away.
Brett Hayes had three hits, including a double and a triple, while Chris Getz and Paulo Orlando had two hits each. Orlando also had two RBIs.
Justin Marks improved to 2-9 as he gave up two runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings with four walks and eight strikeouts.
Class A-Advanced Wilmington
Left-hander Sam Selman was the tough-luck loser as the Blue Rocks fell 2-1 to Frederick.
Selman, 7-6, allowed two runs (one earned) in five innings on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Cody Fassold gave up three hits in three scoreless innings of relief.
Lane Adams’ solo homer in the fourth inning accounted for Wilmington’s lone run.
Adams has been on a tear, hitting .316 in his last 10 games with five homers, two doubles and 10 RBIs.
