Third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert hit a solo homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as Class A Wilmington beat Salem 3-2.
Wilmington trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the third when first baseman Daniel Mateo delivered a two-run single that brought home second baseman Justin Trapp and catcher Parker Morin.
Trapp was two for four with a double and a run scored and is batting .300 on the season.
Starter Kyle Smith, a right-hander who is ranked 12th in the Royals organization by Baseball America, allowed two runs on six hits with two strikeouts in six innings. He has a 2.49 ERA.

Right-hander Miguel Almonte allowed just one hit in six shutout innings with nine strikeouts as Class A Lexington beat Delmarva 3-1 on Wednesday.
Almonte, who is ranked by Baseball America, as the Royals’ No. 10 prospect, walked three and got his first victory of the season as his ERA dropped to 4.13. Alec Mills gave up one unearned run on one hit in three innings and got his third save.
Second baseman Humberto Arteaga had a bases-loaded triple with two outs in the top of the first. That scored center fielder Bubba Starling (single), third baseman Michael Antonio (reached on an error) and catcher Jin-Ho Shin (walk).
Starter Noel Arguelles struggled with his command, walking six in five innings and he took the loss as Northwest Arkansas lost 9-3 to Springfield.
Arguelles gave up five runs (four earned) on four hits and struck out two as his ERA climbed to 5.10.
Catcher Manny Pina and first baseman Matt Fields each hit a solo home run for the Naturals, who gave up four runs in the top of the third and never recovered. Catcher Mitch Canham had three hits with a double and a triple. His average is up to .328.
