Macey Hensley, the recently-dubbed spokesgirl for Kansas tourism and young expert on U.S. presidents, can now add another name to her “presidents I’ve met” list.
In her latest appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Monday, the 6-year-old from Council Grove visited the George W. Bush Library in Dallas. While sitting in a replica of the Oval Office, she is surprised by former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura. Macey met President Obama earlier this year on “Ellen.”
During their visit Monday, the 43rd president tried his hand at a ventriloquist George W. Bush doll that Macey had brought along. She offered some advice, “just kind of try to hide your mouth behind his head.”
“Hi, Macey ... you’re a cute and smart person,” the Bush doll said.
“Thanks,” she replied, hugging the doll.
The Dallas trip was filmed last week, and Macy and her mom later flew to Los Angeles for the show taping.
The Kansas Travel and Tourism department rolled out videos and TV commercials last month featuring Macey, visiting the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene, Exploration Place in Wichita and the state Capitol in Topeka.
The show also showed Monday a clip from the Exploration Place commercial. DeGeneres asked Macey why she’s promoting Kansas tourism.
“So they can see what it’s like,” in the Sunflower State, Macey said matter-of-factly. And people can tell other people “so they can see what it’s like,” she added.
The popular TV show has sent her on taped field trips to the White House, Disney World, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Mount Rushmore and even on a Carnival cruise.
