Stanley Ahlerich, executive director of the Kansas Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors, was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to Shawnee County jail records.

Ahlerich, 64, was booked at the Shawnee County jail about 3:14 a.m. Jail records listed the charge as DWI and the arresting agency as the Kansas Highway Patrol.

No other details of the arrest were immediately available. Ahlerich was released about 4:30 a.m. on a $1,000 bond.

Ahlerich, like all members of the council, was appointed by Gov. Sam Brownback.

A spokeswoman for Brownback could not immediately be reached for comment. Ahlerich did not answer a phone number listed for him Saturday night.

The council was recently in the news after it stopped putting on its website quarterly reports on the state’s economy.
