Political protests have taken on hundreds of forms over the years, but this might be the first planned “fart-in.”

Cheri Honkala, the leader of the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign, told Truthdig that her group plans to host the “world’s largest fart-in” on July 28 at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Honkala said she will host a “massive bean supper,” deemed “Beans for Hillary,” for Bernie Sanders delegates before Hillary Clinton’s speech to accept the presidential nomination.

“The Sanders delegates, their bellies full of beans, will be able to return to the Wells Fargo Center and greet the rhetorical flatulence of Hillary Clinton with the real thing,” Honkala said.

Honkala said she plans to invite Sen. Sanders himself to the bean supper, and she asks people send donations of beans to 1301-W Porter Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148. The remaining cans of beans will be donated to the homeless.

Honkala, who was the vice presidential candidate for the Green Party in 2012, said “the Clintons have done enough damage,” and America needed to break free from the two-party system.

“We cannot afford more of the same,” Honkala told Truthdig. “We are either going to build third party movements or an American Spring.”
