Democratic Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II lashed out at President Donald Trump calling him a bully who borders on being a criminal.
“The Trump presidency has been an Excedrin headache,” Cleaver told KMBC news. The remarks came during a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Kansas City’s Night Hoops program.
“I think he’s a tiny little bully that borders on being a tiny little criminal,” the former Kansas City mayor said. “It’s becoming a joke and I don’t think anybody ought to celebrate this.”
Cleaver’s comments came after a week in which fired FBI Director James Comey testified before Congress that Trump urged him to drop an investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn. Trump later accused Comey of perjury. Cleaver spoke against the backdrop of investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“It is no longer partisan,” Cleaver said. “Look, if you’re American and you love this country you don’t want Russia to involve itself in the American election process.”
