Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach extolled what he sees as the virtues of the national GOP platform.
Speaking to Kansas delegates Monday morning, Kobach called the formal document that lays out the issue stances of the Republican Party “the most conservative platform in history.”
Kobach, who helped craft the platform as a member of the drafting committee, said the document is right on a series of key social issues: abortion, guns, gay marriage and immigration.
The platform also calls for the teaching of the Bible in public schools, “as literature,” Kobach said. Courts have allowed the practice.

“It’s a very direct conservative platform,” he said. “It speaks in plain terms.”
Delegates were scheduled to vote on the platform during the Monday afternoon session.
