The Center for Public Integrity, an investigative news agency, has issued new ratings of the states on ethics and transparency: oversight, campaign finance, budget processes, and other criteria.
Kansas ranks last of all 50 states, the Center says, in internal auditing. It’s 49th among the states for procurement practices, and 46th in state budget processes. Kansas does get a high ranking for political financing policies.
Missouri ranks 44th in political financing and 43rd in its budget process.
