Time capsule: A mushroom cloud in KC

“A mushroom cloud formed in the simulation of an H-bomb blast at Holmes street and the Missouri river at 2:30 o’clock yesterday. Twenty pounds of TNT, 200 feet of detonating primer cord, gasoline jelly and white phosphorus were placed in a 5-foot hole by Ft. Riley, Kas., chemical warfare experts to produce the effect.”
