In this photograph originally published on May 21, 1931, students at what was then known as the R.J. DeLano School for Crippled Children use a new warm-water tank, a gift from the Junior League.

The children in the photo were identified as Raleigh Fletcher of 2038 Elmwood Ave., Howard Van Dusen of 1802 Norton Ave. (lying back), and Marilyn Rusk of 2917 E. 28th St. The Kansas City School District closed what came to be known as the Delano School in 2011, moving most students to an annex at East High School, where they would have greater access to the general student population.
