Can you guess the date of this undated photo of downtown Kansas City?

Many photos in The Kansas City Star’s photo archive offer precious little detail as to when they were taken. This shot of Kansas City’s downtown, looking northward up Baltimore Avenue from about Truman Road, is a good example.

The Power & Light Building is on the left, and the President Hotel on the right. But that’s all we know for sure.

Take a look at the cars, buildings and billboards on the street. You can see more detail in the zoomed-in second version of the image.

Luke Spence, curator of the Kansas City Automotive Museum, has a pretty good idea of when this image was taken. What’s your best guess?
