Time Capsule: At the end of the power line in Bonner Springs


This photo from The Star’s historical collection appeared in the newspaper on Aug. 19, 1963. Its original caption:

Shutting off the power of a converter at the Bonner Springs end of the line is C.J. Fuhr, Bonner Springs, night watchman. Electricity for the operation is supplied by the Kaw Power station. This converter and others at Muncie and in Western Kansas City, Kansas, convert 33,000 volts AC into 600 volts DC.
