Kansas City police identify man killed in shooting Friday near 57th and Manchester Avenue

A Kansas City man was identified by police Saturday as the victim of a fatal shooting the night before near 57th Street and Manchester Avenue.

Keenon A. Durham, 31, was found fatally shot inside a home, police said. The shooting was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Durham was declared dead at the scene.

Police said they believed they knew the identity of the shooter, but had not yet made an arrest.

The shooting marked the fourth homicide investigation begun by Kansas City police in a little more than 24 hours. On Thursday night, police responded to a shooting near the intersection of Gregory Boulevard and Prospect Avenue that killed one man and injured three, including a child. That was followed by a fatal shooting near Englewood Park in the Northland.

On Friday police found a man’s body near Bannister Road and Lydia Avenue. The fatal shooting near 57th Street and Manchester Avenue came hours later.

The latest killing marked the 71st homicide in Kansas City this year. The metropolitan area has recorded 109 killings in 2016.

Police asked anyone with information about the homicides to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
