Kansas City police investigate homicide after man found fatally shot Thursday in Northland park

Kansas City police on Friday continued to investigate a homicide after a man was found fatally shot Thursday night in a Northland Park.

Officers were called to a shooting Thursday in the 900 block of Northeast Englewood Road shortly after 10 p.m. On arrival, they found a man who told officers that he had an altercation with the victim.

The officers found the victim in Englewood Park, suffering from gunshot injuries. Members of the Kansas City Fire Department responded to the scene and declared the injured man dead.

No other details were immediately available.

The man killed in this shooting marked the 69th homicide in Kansas City this year. The metropolitan area has recorded 106 killings in 2016.
