A 22-year-old Kansas City man pleaded guilty Monday to assaulting a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier.

Willie A. Rimpson pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court, where he was charged after the incident in February.

According to court documents, the female postal carrier was delivering mail in the 3800 block of Myrtle Avenue when she handed Rimpson his mail and he asked, “Where’s my check?”

When she told him she didn’t know, she said Rimpson grabbed her in a chokehold.

The letter carrier broke free and continued her rounds. But when she returned to her vehicle, she said Rimpson blocked her path and put his hands up in a boxing stance.

He grabbed her, but she was again able to break free and drive away in the vehicle.

When he was questioned later, Rimpson said he had just been playing around with her, according to the documents.

He will be sentenced after a presentence report is completed.
