A police pursuit through south Kansas City late Monday morning led to a woman’s arrest and sent a motorcyclist to a hospital in critical condition.
Kansas City Police Sgt. Bill Mahoney said officers initially tried to pull the woman over near Bannister and Grandview roads, thinking the silver Chrysler sedan she was driving was stolen. The driver refused to stop and continued onto southbound U.S. 71.
Police Sgt. Kari Thompson said the Chrysler was connected to a kidnapping investigation. She did not elaborate.
While attempting to exit at Red Bridge Road, the driver hit a male riding a black motorcycle who was also heading south.
Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté said in a tweet Monday afternoon that he had been told the motorcyclist “suffered no broken bones or internal injuries” and was alert and talking.
Near U.S. 71 and Red Bridge Road, the driver of the Chrysler crashed into a raised median and was arrested.
Police were working to identify both drivers.
