A security guard wounded a man attempting to break into a West Bottoms business early Monday morning, Kansas City police said.
Two men, one armed with a gun, tried to enter Restaurant Depot at 1500 W. 12th St. about 4:30 a.m., said Sgt. Matt Young with the Kansas City Police Department’s violent crimes unit.
A security guard confronted them and shot one of the men, who ran east onto the 12th Street bridge and confronted the driver of a tractor-trailer. The wounded man tried to get into the truck’s cab, but the driver told him to leave.
Police officers soon arrived and arrested the man, who was taken to a hospital. He was in stable condition later Monday, police said.
His accomplice fled the scene in a vehicle, Young said.
Restaurant Depot sells restaurant equipment and food to individuals and businesses. Its security guard was not hurt.
