A man accused of shooting four people in July, leaving two of them dead, remained at large after Jackson County prosecutors charged him with murder this week.
Jose L. Yepes-Zavala, 41, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and other crimes in connection with a shooting at a birthday party July 26 at a home in the 400 block of Colorado Avenue.
Police called to the shooting in the early morning hours found four people shot. Two later died. They were identified as Antonio Hernandez, 31, and Omero Garcia, 39.
Two survived. One victim told police that a man know as “Yepes” shot him. The shooting allegedly followed an altercation at the party. Another witness identified Yepes-Zavala as the shooter.

Police think Yepes-Zavala fled the area.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $500,000 for Yepes-Zavala if he is arrested. He also faces four counts of armed criminal action, two counts of assault and one count of unlawful use of a weapon in the case.
