Kansas City police opened a suspicious death investigation Wednesday night after a man was found dead inside a residence in the Blue Hills neighborhood.

Police officers were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. to the 5000 block of Euclid Avenue on a report of a medical call, said Capt. Leslie Foreman, a police spokeswoman. Emergency medical personnel were present on the scene when officers arrived and the man was found on the floor of the home unresponsive. He was pronounced dead there.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were asked to assess the scene of the death out of “an abundance of caution,” Foreman said. She said the case is not currently being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators were still working to determine how the man died.
