Former K.C. area postal worker guilty of stealing gift and debit cards from mail

A former U.S. Postal Service supervisor in Johnson County admitted Monday that she stole gift and debit cards from the mail.

Stacey Kampfer pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan., to one count of theft of government mail.

Kampfer was supervisor of customer services at the Shawnee Mission Post Office in July 2016 when she was caught stealing items from the mail, according to terms of her plea agreement.

When questioned by postal inspectors, she admitted to stealing from the mail "multiple times" over a period of about a year, according to the agreement.

Investigators said they determined that she opened the mail and stole property worth that belonged to 214 people.

The plea agreement calls for her to make restitution of $3,705 and be placed on probation for one year. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 30.
