Kansas City police are investigating a carjacking early Tuesday in which a woman said a robber held a gun to her head and fled with her purse and 2016 Dodge Charger.

The incident was reported just before 1 a.m. in the 3100 block of East 49th Street. The victim told arriving officers that she and her female friend were approached by a male friend and an unknown man while they sat in her car.

The stranger held a gun to her head and told the woman to get out of her car and hand over her purse, police said. The male friend stood by as the robbery occurred, police said.

The gunman climbed into the driver's seat of the woman's purple Charger and sped west on Swope Parkway in an unknown direction. The woman's friend who showed up with the gunman fled before police arrived.

No injuries were reported.

Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers most wanted fugitives.
