Kansas City police are investigating a street robbery early Friday where a gunman stole a pair of high-powered AR-15 assault-style pistols from two men outside of a BP gas station in Northeast Kansas City.

The incident was reported just after 1 a.m. in the 6200 block St. John Avenue. No one was injured during the robbery, according to an initial police report.

The victims told arriving officers they were confronted by a man they knew as they walked out of the gas station. The man brandished a handgun and demanded the victims give up their two pistols.

The gunman took the weapons and sped away in an unknown direction in a blue Toyota Camry, possibly a 2015 model that had a license plate in the rear window. No other details were available.

Anyone with information should call the Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
