Man fatally shot at south KC convenience store; KCPD looking for person of interest

A man was fatally shot at a 7-Eleven store late Friday in south Kansas City, and police are looking to speak with witnesses and a person of interest.

Officers were called to the 7-Eleven store at 10615 Blue Ridge Blvd. on a shooting at 11:17 p.m., according to a news release. Police said "several people" were inside the 7-11 store at the time of the shooting.

Inside the convenience store, police found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

Police released a surveillance image on Saturday morning of a person of interest allegedly seen fleeing north on Blue Ridge Boulevard in a tan vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Police are trying to identify the person in the surveillance image as well as talk to witnesses who were inside the 7-Eleven between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Friday. The police department said it's requesting people to call regardless of whether or not they saw the person of interest shown in the photo.
