Double shooting near 16th and Elmwood leaves one dead in Kansas City

Kansas City police are investigating a double shooting Sunday that left one person dead and another injured.

The shooting was reported about 1:15 p.m. near 16th Street and Elmwood Avenue.

Arriving officers did not find any victims or suspects. But minutes later, two shooting victims arrived at a hospital by private vehicle.

One victim was pronounced dead and the other is in stable condition, police said.

Police remained at the scene of the shooting as investigators began collecting evidence.

One neighborhood resident reported hearing about five or seven gunshots.

No suspect description or details about what led to the shooting were immediately available.

The killing would be the second homicide of the day in Kansas City. Earlier Sunday, a man was shot and killed in the 1500 block of Grand Boulevard.
