Firing gun from Caddy — while not wearing pants — lands Kansas City man in jail

A 31-year-old man is facing a federal gun charge after allegedly firing shots outside a Kansas City apartment complex while not wearing pants.

Leron Morris is charged in U.S. District Court in Kansas City with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Kansas City police were called Monday night to the 6400 block of Manchester Avenue on a report of a man who was not wearing pants firing gunshots from inside a white Cadillac, according to court documents.

Arriving officers saw Morris getting out of the car and detained him.

Police found a 9mm handgun in the car and saw spent shell casings on the ground around the Cadillac, according to the documents.

They also found about two grams of what appeared to be cocaine in a plastic bag.

Morris later told a detective that he had the gun for protection. He has a prior felony conviction for aiding and abetting robbery and cannot legally possess a firearm, according to the allegations.
