Federal authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information after a suspected improvised explosive device was detonated near a Raymore Police Department patrol car Thursday.
According to officials with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the incident occurred about 12:30 p.m. near Missouri 58 and Campbell Boulevard.
Someone driving eastbound on Missouri 58 near Campbell tossed the explosive device in the direction of a Raymore police car traveling westbound on Missouri 58, officials said.

The device detonated on the pavement of the highway.
The officer was not injured, and the patrol vehicle wasn’t damaged, authorities said.
The ATF and Raymore police are asking anyone in the area who may have witnessed the incident or the detonation of the device to contact them at 1-888-ATF-BOMB (283-2662).
A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case, authorities said.
