A 55-year-old Kansas City man was charged Thursday with the Wednesday afternoon robbery of an Overland Park bank.

Steven Daniel Lavy was charged in federal court with robbing the Bank of the West at 12080 Blue Valley Parkway.

According to court documents, the robber made off with $783.

A description of the getaway car was broadcast to area police departments, and shortly after the robbery, Leawood police spotted a vehicle matching the description near 119th Street and Roe Avenue.

The vehicle led police on a brief pursuit during which a police car was rammed and another vehicle was struck. The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle at 135th Street and Pawnee Lane, and Lavy was arrested.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a straw hat and a fake mustache like items worn by the bank robber, according to court documents.
