Kansas City police say a road rage incident at 104th and Holmes Road has resulted in a homicide, and they provided more information Saturday about what happened.
Officers found two shooting victims in a vehicle about 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the busy intersection on Holmes Road, near Interstate 435. It’s an area that can get especially congested as cars enter and exit I-435.
Police spokesman Darin Snapp on Saturday described the incident, saying that a white male with a bald head started yelling at the victims through their car window, “stating they were driving too slow and get out of the way.”
“He pulled up to pass them, and that is when the victim sped up and pulled up next to him and stared arguing with him. And that is when the shots were fired,” Snapp said.
A male victim was shot in the head and later died. A woman in the car was grazed by a bullet and is OK, Snapp said. No names have yet been released.
There is no more suspect description, but a blue vehicle was observed fleeing the area after the shooting.
This incident was one of a string of Kansas City shootings in which eight people were hit during a 48-hour period from Wednesday through Friday evenings, including two that were killed. Then police reported a third homicide from late Friday night.
