Animal welfare officials were trying to locate the owner of two dogs found unconscious and emaciated in an alley in Leavenworth.

The dogs were found Monday, according to the Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society.

A $1,000 reward was being offered for information leading to an arrest.

The dogs — a male and a female — were improving Thursday, Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society officials said. They were hopeful the improvement would continue.
