A Grain Valley man has been convicted of holding a gun to a woman’s head and raping her in her Kansas City, Kan., bedroom.
A Wyandotte County jury on Thursday found Ryan E. Pederson, 35, guilty of rape, aggravated assault and aggravated burglary for incidents that occurred March 5, 2015, prosecutors said.
Pederson was wearing “police-type clothing and equipment” when he and an accomplice forced their way into the home, according to court documents filed in the case.
The two told the woman and her family that they were looking for a man who had missed a court date. The family did not not that man.

While the accomplice held other occupants, including several children, downstairs, Pederson handcuffed the woman and pushed her face down on her bed, according to the documents.
While holding a gun to her head, he raped her.
The woman was taken to a hospital for a sexual assault examination and evidence obtained from from the exam was submitted to a lab for DNA testing.
That sample matched Pederson’s DNA, according to the documents.
Sentencing for Pederson is scheduled for March 23.
